Analysis and operating context
Methodology: we treat traceability as a record-keeping requirement. The ledger does not make a claim true; it makes the claim inspectable and exposes where judgment or further research is needed.
Record the claim in your own words, publisher, canonical URL, publication or update date, access date, definition, unit, geography, and a short note about what the source actually supports.
Separate a reported figure from a calculation. Show the inputs and formula for derived percentages, averages, or comparisons, and do not round away a meaningful limitation.
Prefer primary or authoritative sources for headline numbers. Use secondary commentary to locate context, not to replace the source that owns the underlying data.
Before publication, sample every headline statistic and at least two body claims. A reviewer should be able to reproduce the path from article sentence to source record in under a few minutes.
